Why Modi beats 'em all

CONGRESS MUKT BHARAT-THE DEMOLITION MAN CALLED NARENDRA MODI

In these Corona times when the disease has become a Frankenstein monster, most other issues have taken a back seat. Therefore I decided to focus on politics here to offer some relief to readers who need to divert a bit and maybe take a welcome break from the heart rending covid facts and figures.

Since 2014, the rise of Narendra Modi has put the entire opposition in doldrums. Sworn enemies come together to form Mahagathbandhans (conglomerates) to beat Modi, fail miserably, drift apart again and then again regroup for another round and the result is not so different. Bit player’s apart this experimenting has cost the Congress party too high a price. What was once India’s undisputed brute majority ruling juggernaut, has been reduced to a size that would put pygmies to shame.

Regional players tie up with the Congress in state elections (…Bengal, Assam,UP) and end up destroying the Congress’s own base in the bargain. Other than Punjab, the Congress today does not have a commanding and definite political supremacy in any state in the country. A wafer thin majority here or an uneasy coalition there, that is the story of the mighty Congress today.

The political question boils down to this. Is it really Modi who has destroyed the Congress?  Or is the answer to be sought elsewhere?

Those who follow political debates and slugfests on social media and mainstream media can reflect on some facts I will put out. Narendra Modi has been the target of the opposition ever since he was the CM of Gujarat. The attack intensified when the post-Godhra riots claimed more Muslims than Hindus in terms of lives. The burning of Kar sewaks by Muslims in a train in Godhra-which actually triggered the backlash- has got far, far less coverage in media than the post Godhra riots.  The ‘Who started it’ debate never happened. This is the Indian brand of secularism that kept the Congress-Left in power for decades since Independence.. and partition.

Narendra Modi as sitting CM was grilled under the UPA regime for 9 hours at a stretch by the CBI after which the result was an unambiguous clean chit for Modi. This stung the anti-Modi (read anti-Hindu) cabal so much that despite court reprieves and acquittals, Modi and his deputy Amit Shah have been targeted repeatedly and relentlessly by the pseudo-secular Left-Congress brigade.  But not only did the mud not stick, Modi gained from strength to strength and now enjoys a second term as PM with a clear majority in Parliament.

The Congress has what I call “Emperor’s new clothes” issues with their leader Rahul Gandhi. The man is confused and a political retard. Yet, the sycophancy nurtured by the Nehru-Gandhi family has set in so deep that even intelligent leaders and spokespersons are forced to defend his idiotic acts and words. He winks in Parliament, goes up and hugs Modi in mid session for no rhyme or reason, tears up an ordinance issued by Manmohan Singh as then PM in grand style and shows a torn kurta pocket in public forum to show how poor he is. His jugglery with numbers is a comedian’s delight and his religion hopping from Janeudhari to Shiv bhakt to Christian to skull capper –depending on which majority he wants to electorally woo- has also not covered the Congress with glory.

He now has competition from Arvind Kejriwal who graduated from ‘foot in the mouth’ to biting off his leg in an ugly spat with his Singapore jibe. But that apart he still has a long way to go before he can hold a candle to our own Pappu.

Coming back to Narendra Modi, what makes him so popular? Three things- One, genuine love for the country, Two, unabashed pride for his Hindu moorings and three, brutal honesty and incorruptibility. Unless the Congress or any other party comes up with a leader having all three qualities to begin with, there is no competition to Narendra Modi.
