How Social Media is Killing Our Time?

How Social Media Kills Our Time?

Social Media is definitely a revolution in modern communication. No one ever expected communication will be so swift, easy and cheap.

The fact that we can connect with our friends allured everyone towards it, and in the initial years it was seen as a boon for humans.

But this is not true today, in 2020. Ofcourse we can say that social media is still helping us in many ways, especially in the ongoing pandemic,

when we are requesting for help from our community or authorities. But if we consider its impact on our personal lives then this advantage would

get outweighed by one of the biggest disadvantage that we can sense on our personal level, i.e. the distraction and waste of time.

This can be clearly observed by those who are in their teenagers, ofcourse it will be valid for other age groups also, but the other age groups

have already achieved something, like got a job or completed their eduction, hence they are in such a place where they have responsibilities

and also it is a fact that the usage of social media is most prevalent in teenagers.

So, if you are a teenager, you might be having many ambitions and many short term and long term goals. For example getting good marks in the

final exams, learning something new, excelling and cracking an exam. But if I ask you are able to do it? Or are you able to stick to your plans and time

table, then a common answer will come that is no. But still there is nothing to worry as if you would ask the same question to the generation of 1920

you will still get the same result. People were distracted and not able to achieve their day to day goals or targets then also, but what is important to

note here

is the reason why?  Why are people distracted now?

The reason is ofcourse social media. When I say social media it should be implicit that I am talking about internet in general, like games, Youtube,

other websites, etc.

You just try to observe yourself, what happens after every interval of time, you have your smartphone in your hands. You are scrolling as if searching

for some treasure. But you never find that treasure. And the most common reason why you use your smartphone after every interval of time is to

'refresh yourself' after an hour of studying or doing something significant. But if you carefully observe yourself do you thing social media or your phone

ever refreshes you? No. Most of the times it makes you more exhausted and enervated.

The conclusion here is not that social media is something bad, but it should be understood by us that it is doing a great amount of damage in the

youngsters, where most of the people have forgotten how to enjoy life in the real world. People are spending hours on social media without getting

any value from it and this is not what I am concluding this is what every social media user finds out after hours of scrolling it and gets filled with regret.
