HOW TO WRITE A METAPHOR? AND WHY'S IMPORTANCE OF METAPHOR IN WRITING?

 So,
what exactly is a metaphor and how is it useful for writing?
More importantly, how do we construct a metaphor?
Metaphors are a tool that make our words more expressive and graphic, usually by highlighting similarities between two things, in order to see something in terms of another. In other words, a metaphor is an Instagram reels video. in the dry expanse of Wikipedia. With
the imagery it paints, our reader is able to connect with something in a new and vivid way.

While building metaphors. I prefer using this 3 step formula:

– identify as many traits as you can. for the concept that you're trying to describe. Get creative and fluid at this
step.
IEg for happiness, words like yellow. balloon, kids. spring. chocolate cake etc come to my mingi free associate other things/concepts that share these traits. Skip the obvious, obviously)
(Here words like lemonade, hot air balloon, school, birthday. barefeet come to my mind)

- focus on the setting or the mood you're describing.
(The setting here feels like a summer afternoon to me.)

With all these three in mind. pick the one connection that makes the most sense in an unconventional way.

- She was a sip of fresh lemonade, floating in a hot air balloon across the summer skies of Turkey. Ofcourse, you could do it much better. but you get the crux.

When thinking of metaphors, avoid familiar or cliche comparisons. Without the vehicle of surprise, metaphors are a flat tyre that take our reader nowhere. And while you're at it. stay conscious if you're attempting to mix
metaphors. Most mixed metaphors are a haphazard intersection without signposts, that only end up baffling our reader, rather than simplying a complex or unfamiliar concept.

On that note. I hope this cookie packed in some zingy flavours, that helps us to come up with fresh metaphors to spruce up our taste for words.
