HOW TO MAKE BREAD LASAGNA AT HOME?

Simple and Delicious Italian Lasagna with a Twist that everyone can make! 🤩

Bread Lasagna Recipe: 


White Sauce:

Butter - 2 tbsp

Maida - 2 tbsp

Milk - 1 ¼ Cup

Salt - ½ tsp

Black Pepper Powder - ¼ tsp

Dried Oregano - 1 tsp

Mozzarella Cheese - ½ Cup


Tomato Sauce:

Olive Oil - 1 tbsp

Garlic (finely chopped) - 2 tbsp

Onion (finely chopped) - ½ Cup

Tomato Puree - 1 Cup

Sugar - ½ tsp

Salt - ½ tsp

Paprika/Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp

Black Pepper Powder - ¼ tsp

Dried Oregano - ½ tsp

Dried Basil - ½ tsp


Vegetable Mixture: 

Butter - 1 tbsp

Oil - 1 tbsp

Garlic (finely chopped) - 3 tbsp

Broccoli (chopped) - ½ Cup

Capsicum (diced) - ½ Cup

Mushroom (diced) - 1 Cup

Corn Kernels - ½ Cup

Salt - ½ tsp

Black Pepper Powder - ¼ tsp


Other Ingredients:

Bread - 16 Slices

Mozzarella Cheese - 2 tbsp (between each layer) ¼ Cup

Red Chilli Flakes - ½ tsp

Dried Oregano - ½ tsp


Cooking Instructions:

White Sauce:

1. Melt the butter in a heavy bottomed pan. Add the flour and cook on low heat for 3-4 minutes or until the colour barely begins to turn golden. 

2. Add the milk gradually and keep whisking constantly to avoid lumps. 

3. Once it has thickened to the required consistency, season with salt, pepper, oregano and chilli flakes and add the cheese. Mix and set aside. 


Tomato Sauce:

1. Heat the olive oil and saute the garlic and onion until translucent. 

2. Add all the other ingredients and mix. Cook for 5 minutes or until the raw taste of the tomatoes disappears. 


Vegetable Mixture:

1. Heat the butter and oil in a pan. Add all the vegetables and saute on high heat for 3 minutes. 

2. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from the heat. 


Assembling the Lasagna:

1. Cut the crust off the bread. Roll it thin using a rolling pin. 

2. In an ovenproof pan, spread a thin layer of the white sauce followed by the tomato sauce.

3. Place the flattened bread on it. Spread another layer of both the sauce. 

4. Place some of the vegetable filling on top followed by bread. 

5. Repeat this process again twice. 

6. On the top, spread a final layer of white sauce. Sprinkle cheese, red chilli flakes and oregano on top. Bake at 180c for 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and turns golden brown. Garnish with chopped parsley. 


Cooking Tips:

1. Fresh bread/bakery bread is most suitable for rolling. 

2. If you are using pasteurized milk, you do not have to boil the milk separately before using it in this recipe. You can use it directly.
