Double Cleansing is a two-step cleaning process where we use an Oil-Based cleanser followed by a Water-Based cleanser..
The 1st Step draws out oil-based impurities such as sebum, SPF & pollutants while the 2nd Step cleanses water-based impurities such as sweat & dirt. This ensures deep cleansing..
With the kind of pollution we are exposed to each day, regardless of whether we wear make-up or not. Just one step cleaning will not work anymore. That's why we need to double cleanse.
It can help remove stubborn, pore-clogging and acne-causing impurities that can remain on the skin even after washing your face once," says board-certified dermatologist David Lortscher, M.D.
Benefits of DOUBLE Cleansing :
* Provides Deep Cleansing : The first cleanser will breakdown impurities like sebum, SPF, make-up, remove dirt, pollutants & excess oils while the second cleanser will address your particular skin type or concern and should have ingredients to hydrate, smooth or exfoliate and treat acne.
* Minimizes Breakouts : It cleans the skin pores thoroughly. As a result, the pores do not have trapped dirt, oil and bacteria. This reduces inflammation and minimizes future breakouts.
* Slow Down Skin Aging : Double cleansing ensures the skin stays hydrated. This helps the skin maintain its elasticity and slows down premature aging.
* Better Penetration of Products : It also brightens the complexion and sloughs away any dead skin cells that don't reflect light or are on the surface-leaving a layer of new and ready skin cells accept serums, moisturisers and products with active ingredients most effectively.
How to Double Cleanse :
STEP 1 : Oil-based cleanser
Massage your face with a pea-sized amount of the oil-based cleanser in a circular motion.
Wet your hands and continue massaging to create a light milky emulsion.
Wash off with lukewarm water.
STEP 2 : Water-based cleanser
Rub a coin-sized quantity of the cleanser and a few drops of water between your palms.
Massage your face with the cleanser in a upward circular motion.
Rinse off with lukewarm water.
When to Double Cleanse :
Even if you don't wear make-up regularly, it's still important to make sure you're cleansing at the end of the day.
"It's important not only to remove make-up, but also dirt and pollution that accumulates on your skin during the day," says Shari Marchbein.
"Not only do these cause oxidative damage to the skin, but they contribute to the breakdown of collagen and development of wrinkles and sun spots."
Double cleansing ensures the natural lipid barrier remains undisturbed..
