Terrorism: a modern curse which is faced by the whole world

The dictionary meaning of the terrorism is ' the use of violence and threats of violence, especially for political purposes ' , a 2004, united Nations security council report describes it as any act " intend to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non- combantants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or an international organisation to do or abstain from doing any act". 

It is no secret that all around the world there exist governments  that covertly or otherwise themselves indulge in acts of terrorism ( in fact terrorism originated as a state action ) , and it would be wrong of think of terrorist as people who live outside The pale of law and carryout destructive acts. The unpleasant fact further complicates the issue of terrorism and makes it's Solution more elusive then ever. It also make something believable to the oft-repeated saying that "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. "

At the bottom of the hole problem is man's propensity to overuse violence as a means of achieving his ends. However much this mentality is outwardly criticised by politicians, this is often a public posture ,and the inside story is quite different. More and more , entire generations are brought up on a cult of violence propagated by commercial movies, best selling books ,video games and the like. With the blessings of a big business , it all passes off in the name of legitimate entertainment, but it wraps the impressionable Minds of The Young, and is instrumental in creating the insecure world that we live in today. All said and done , it is the growing sense of insecurity in minds of people that most of all makes terrorism a modern curse.

There existed a moral principal once that a Virtuous life acted as a Shield against mishap and misfortune. Modern terrorist acts , especially those committed by non- state actors have given the lie to such beliefs. Unlike the terrorist of bygone eras, who wished to be thought​ well by the community he was involved with,the modern terrorist targets innocents with a view to intimidating society. Today one is vulnerable because one is innocent, and there can be nothing more morally, physiologically, and spiritually damaging than this fact. Ultimately, it takes its toll on one's physical well-being as well.

Last terrorist attack in India occurred in the border of sukma district, 540 km south of state capital, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. It was on 3rd april, 2021 where 22 people were killed and 32 got injured. This rebel lasted for 4 hours , and the whole incident included bullets, grenades and rocket launchers . 

We can see many terrorist attacks throughout the whole world killing millions of people. On 2nd January,2021 mass shooting occurred in Tillaberi, Niger, where more than 100 people died and 75 People got injured.  Again on 21st January, sucide bombing in an open-air market by terrorist in Baghdad, Iraq, killed more than 30 people.

There are millions of people who have been traumatised by modern terrorism, who can either eat ,sleep or walk in mental peace and above who thinks of something dreadful that is going to happen to them.

Modern terrorism is globalised with the knowledge of Technology and is decentralized in decision making and operational structure. All these factors make it more efficient and more difficult to cope up with and get rid of. We need new levels of strength and ingenuity to grapple with it successfully. In particular, it poses a challenge to democratics , which will now have to master the art of balancing individual freedom with collective security.
