It is something that teen use for making connections online. The purpose is to build developing personal, romantic, or sexual relationships. There are several apps available like tinder , cupid , happen etc

The current survey finds that online dating is especially popular among certain groups – particularly younger adults and those who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual (LGB). Roughly half or more of 18- to 29-year-olds (48%) and LGB adults (55%) say they have ever used a dating site or app.

Now a days , people find their soulmates or life partners on Instagram and Facebook. They  don’t even need Online dating apps. 

When initially tinder was launched , the ‘right swipe – left swipe ‘ was really cool and hyped.

People who are really attractive physically are mostly found in such platforms. Also people join these for finding someone physically attractive. But now it's all common.  In other countries this is very commo but in  India it is a big thing , people judge you about this .

Cupid is an app which has a very interesting format , they ask a set of questions and then matches you with the person with same interests. So ,I really like that USP of the app .

 Online dating has not only disrupted more traditional ways of meeting romantic partners, its rise also comes at a time when norms and behaviors around marriage and cohabitation also are changing as more people delay marriage or choose to remain single.

1.Personal safety when meeting someone in person who you met online.

2.Stalking and harassment.

3. Fraud, when people appeal appeal to your better nature to help them out of an 'unfortunate situation' by sending money.

4.People pretending  as somebody who they are not.

5.Spam, selling or fraud, especially romance fraud.

6.Webcam blackmail, where fraudsters record things you may do in front of your webcam then use the recording to extort money.

7.Phishing emails claiming to be from an online dating site and encouraging you to divulge personal information.

8.Being defrauded by using websites posing as authentic dating sites.

9.Potential theft of your money if you do not use a secure link when making payments. 

Safety measures you need to take being on online dating Platforms

1. Be anonymous 

2. Don’t share your too personal information 

3. Stop communicating with random creeps who pressurize you for anything

4. Don’t simply add them on your social media.

5. Take your time 

6. Be responsible for your own deeds.

7. Don’t meet somebody before you are not 100 % sure.

8. Meet in public 

9. Don’t believe someone too quick 

10. In some Sexual assaults and rapes cases, there are helpline numbers.

11. People with money requests are fraud for sure. Don’t fall for that.
