Is Group Discussion necessary for the Hiring Process?


Group discussion is very important in the hiring process. With discussion on various topics calculate evaluation is done on that basis candidate are finalised but it's not necessary also. There are needs for group discussion in some area but it's not compulsory for the various profile. Since it is a long-run pattern of hiring all companies to prefer to hire through this step. There are many benefits and disadvantages of group discussions in the hiring process.


Pros


For checking communication skills this is a good method. If a person is not able to discuss or speak with confidence is not eligible. Group discussion provides this platform for those students who are less confident to speak in a group and overcome this drawback. In MNCs, they have to face these group discussion. This skill of discussion is very important for any student. It will build the confidence level and remove meditation in speaking to the public.


Group discussion helps the student to compete in the world of competition. That employee who do not have proper skills of speaking they will not able to get success long far. Group discussion build this ability to speak against wiring or right. In a job, this is very important to speak with confidence. Low pitch candidate sounds low confidence at workplace. In GD they finalise that student who can communicate.


Group discussion also find the ability of a person to lead the team as well as how well he can tackle the situation or how he is responding to indifferent questions. This quality of person will help him in long run for promotion.


Cons


Group discussion is sometimes disadvantaged to a student who is good at academics but not in communication skills. They clear the first round of screening and in the group discussion round they get disqualified. This would lead to a jobless situation. He may be ranked but due to a lack of confidence, he may lose his job.


Sometimes group discussion is not needed in some jobs but they are made compulsory for the screening of candidate. Many good candidates are not get placed due to this drawback. For example companies like content writing or technical company where there is more need for technical knowledge rather than communication. 


For shy people, group discussions are elimination round and they get rejected easily. Reject are causing people depression. If these would be done in the future this may lead to much unemployment. Sometimes shy people are gated in academic and bankers also bit they are lacking in communication and become so stress in the group that they get eliminated.


Group discussion is playing a vital role in the hiring process. But it's should be eliminated or skipped in many company policies so that eligible candidate can be hired. Where there is not necessary this should be removed. Group discussion is important also where communication is the main step for hiring. This is a good way to screen as many qualities company can know about the candidate he can be placed accordingly.
