All eyes will be on Indian Women Cricket team for their upcoming tour to England.
Normally, we don't talk much about them.We like Kohli,Dhoni,Rohit,Pant,etc but very rarely we say that we like Mithali Raj,Harmanpreet Kaur,Shefali Verma,etc.
But to be honest,things have started to change for the girls team.With the performances they have put up for us during the last few years has force us to appreciate their game.
Their performances in the last 50 over World Cup and in recently held 20 over World cup was quite remarkable,though they were not able to win those Final games.
The current team has now some pretty good players like Harmanpreet,Smriti Mandhana,Shefali Verma,Jemimah,Rodrigues,Mithali Raj,Poonam Yada,etc.Along with these big names there are also young talent which are coming up.If they are given a good care then India's good run can be maintained.
They have changed the brand of cricket the Indian cricket was used to playing.They are more fearless,attacking,vigilant,hardworking.And the special thing is that they never back down from any new challenges that were put as a hurddle in their way.The credit has to go to the management and players.They have transformed the way of playing the game.
People have now started to take notice of the women's cricket.They are really serious about it.They want their women's team to do well.This is a new trend that we are noticing and it is a great step towards Women Empowerment. It is a great way of maintaining equality(feminism=Patriarchy). It is having a huge impact over the Indian Society(positive one). I want to tell you an incident which surprised me,,,,,,.I went to a friend of mine and as we were talking with one another I came across large number of girls practising in the nets. I asked him what is the matter bro??,,,where are the boys,,,,he replied, right now boys are being out numbered by the girls.Girls are showing more interest.
ICC also deserve a huge credit for the upliftment of the Women's Cricket.As it has promoted their games to a very high extent through various advertisement projects.
Australia's big bash league(women's) deserve huge appreciation for the upliftment of their game potential and skill.
So, India is going to England, where they will be playing their first test after a gap of 7 years(big surprise as the long format is being neglected for girls).But the interesting thing will be,their ODIs and T-20s clash with the English Women's Team.
The challenge will not be easy for the Girls, as it will take some special performances from the experience pro to defeat the host in their backyard.England Women Team is a quality side in their home conditions.Their bowling and batting is quite lethal.
The women's cricket is growing, but it will grow more if something like IPL for Women Cricket is brought into the scenario.It will have it's problem of drawing crowds,because still today male matches are watched more than the females one.Whether people will come to watch or not will be a big question that has halted this process.
But if this happens then it will be an opportunity for the new girls to showcase their talents.It will definitely boost the morale of the Women's in India.
Cheer up! As the team is gearing up for the challenge ahead.It will be interesting to see whether the young girls keep up to the expectations or not.
